Social responsibilty

Crafting is caring.

At Scotch & Soda we design our garments with great love and eye for detail.

That same love and attention can also be found in the way we produce our clothing. One of our top priorities is to run the business with great sensitivity to the world around us. We take on the challenge of making fashion more sustainable and improving working conditions in the fashion industry. We strive to offer fair, social, healthy and safe conditions for workers in our supply chain. Therefore we have developed a CSR policy with a clear focus on the working conditions in our Cut-Make-Trim (CMT) factories, where our garments are manufactured. This is the most labour-intensive part of our supply chain. At the moment we are working on further expansion of our CSR policy, with goals that will be published here in the near future.
Carefully crafted and with fine attention to detail

In 2006 we have set up our own management system and an adequate Code of Conduct was introduced to our suppliers. Independent audit firms carried out yearly audits and set up corrective action plans in order to realize the requested improvements. But as business grew we decided to expand our CSR even more and became a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) in 2013. See also  http://www.bsci-intl.org. The BSCI is a business driven initiative for companies committed to improve working conditions in the global supply chain. It unites more than 1000 companies worldwide around one common Code of Conduct and supports them with a step-by-step development oriented system.

The BSCI approach is first of all based on the principle of monitoring the supply chain by external auditors that are acknowledged by the Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS). Secondly on empowering suppliers by providing extensive information to expand their knowledge and skills and finally on engaging active dialogs between stakeholders in the relevant sector to exchange experience and knowledge about the sustainable chain policy.
