Company Profile Autumn/Winter 2013
Scotch & Soda loves to make great garments that suit every individual. We want people to love their clothes and enjoy wearing them. Scotch & Soda products are rich in detail, high quality and affordable. The designers at Scotch spare no effort or expense at detailing and fine-tuning samples, all the way to the neatly finished interior of each garment. We invest in the product, which is typically inspired by the best tried and tested classic and vintage styles, enriched with a wealth of inspiration from around the world.
Though Scotch & Soda has been around since the ‘80s, the Amsterdam-based fashion brand as we know it today originates in a brave new start in 2001, when three new owners joined their broad experience and shared love for making great garments. After Scotch & Soda was re-launched for Spring Summer 2002, Scotch Shrunk was added for Spring Summer 2008. Literally shrinking men’s styles to little brother or son sizes was a completely new take on kids wear, and Shrunk made waves no-one at Scotch had even dared dream of.
This success was soon followed by the launch of a women’s collection: Maison Scotch entered the market with the Spring/ Summer 2010 collection and it already accounts for a large part of the company’s continuous growth. Little sister R’Belle showed up for Spring/Summer 2011. Late 2010, the first Scotch & Soda perfume was launched by the name of Barfly, making a long lived dream of the brand come true. Scotch’s youngest and most ambitious project Amsterdams Blauw hit the stores in December 2010; a compact high profile denim collection that could only come from the Scotch kitchen.
The brand currently holds over 90 Scotch & Soda stores worldwide, more than 7000 other sales points and a fully up to date online presence with integrated webstore, blog and social media. Scotch & Soda is classic in many ways, but young and fast-forward when it comes to bringing great clothes onto the market place.

And that doesn’t mean just the individual items; Fall/Winter 2013 is the season to throw it all together in one outfit! This collection was designed with four key themes in mind:
LEADER OF THE LOST BOYS
Inspired by the tales of the boy that never grows up, this is a theme that’s all about exploring. Shrunk sets out for adventure in outdoor- proof items, like his nylon jacket with warm inner fleece and awesome built-in headphones! The tees and sweats in this collection have graphics of pirates, bulls, friendly skulls and cowboys.
Get ready for a winter safari in animal prints and tropical patterns, done the winter way. Africa-inspired colours and Ikat patterns appear on college-style garments, creating an all-new image of a college boy. THE WHOLE SHABANG
It’s time to have fun, lots of fun! This theme holds the vibe of the 60s, with a 70s flare. You will see many oversized va-va-voom prints and funny comics popping up everywhere, and even the labels are updated in new eye-popping colours. The fabrics are subtly washed-out, as if they were seen through vintage sunglasses.
MOONDUST AND POLARBEARS
For the holiday season, Shrunk has the likes of a dressed up cowboy. The perfect combo of dressing the part without losing comfort. The basis of this look is winter whites, like rough natural canvas. The classic tuxedo shirt gets a worker-style twist. Monsieur Shrunk carefully picks out his velour blazer and herringbone skinny fit pants, topping it off with a dressed shirt and bow tie. A true bohemian gentleman!

The new ‘Purple Reign’ wash is bound to be loved by true denim clad boys: a bright purple, indigo over-dyed denim that looks great on the anti-fit ‘Brewer’. Team it with one of the light-weight denim patchwork shirts and a trucker jacket for the ultimate cool. For guys that love the outdoors, there’s the chambray hunting jacket that had the look of a check shirt, but is warm enough to bare the elements. And don’t forget to bring your awesome tie-dye backpack, to collect all the souvenirs you find on your adventures! For the R’Belle denim ladies out there, we see many all-over prints, patterns and bleaching effects this season.

The much-loved skinny ‘Parisienne’ fit comes in many new eye-catching washes this season, with a touch of 80s glamour. Take the ‘Glittertastic’ comfort stretch wash with destructions and glitters, or throw on the ‘Glamrock’: a grey-based, copper metallic printed biker pant. Finish the look with a graphic tee and a black denim biker jacket and you’re good to go!
R'belle Autumn/Winter 2013

Safari camouflages go with all-over galaxy prints, tie-dyes are mixed with Ikat patterns and animal prints happily clash with Breton stripes. The Fall/Winter 2013 collection was designed with four key themes in mind:
LEADER OF THE LOST BOYS
R’Belle is on the move! Inspired by the tales of the kid that never grows up, miss R’Belle is the leader of the pack and sets out for a bohemian winter adventure. Like a true nomad, her outfit has lots of layers in different textures and patterns. Not just the styles themselves, like layered skirts and tops, but also the combination of items and patterns together.
Rock ‘n roarrrr! R’Belle goes on a rock star safari. A crazy collection of graphics, featuring all the animals of the wild, are worn with rock ‘n roll leather items with studs and badges.Oversized leopards and giraffes appear on printed wool qualities, sweats, jerseys and even knits. The colour palette is subtly washed-out, as if they were seen through vintage sunglasses. The colourful rhinestone and sequin embroideries make these garments extra special.
MOONDUST AND POLARBEARS
Towards the end of the year, R’Belle likes to dress up, but still feel comfy. Her style for the holidays is winter whites galore with a touch of western. Chunky wool knits come with sparkly lurex yarn Ikat motives. Bohemian jacquards are combined with rough canvas and metal eyelets. To complete this look, have your pick from one of the many accessories, like a fancy twinkling collar necklace.
Scotch and Soda Amsterdams Blauw Autumn/Winter 2013
For Fall/Winter 2013, Scotch & Soda Amsterdams Blauw takes it right back to where it all started. To the people, places and products that have inspired us for decades. The icons of denim. The anti-heroes. This results in a collection that is iconic in itself; showing all the must-have wardrobe denim staples with the fresh twist that Scotch & Soda is known for. The likes of original denim rebel Jackson Pollock inspired the new ‘Jackson’s Green’ wash for Scotch & Soda’s anti-fit ‘Brewer’. This seasonal special shows constructed details and pocket play with reversed fabric, on a base of fresh green cast worn-in denim.
Like a rock ‘n roll hero, the super skinny ‘Skim’ fit comes in great new washes like the all black ‘Slick Mick’ – after icon Mick Jagger – with vintage stone wash and subtle scrape. Black and grey are important colours this season. Scotch explores new treatments here, using black pigment sprays on denim, irregular bleached blacks, super deep navy blacks as well as black Japanese selvedge for a cleaner look. Denim heads will love the ‘Kuro’ this season; a signature ‘Gitane’ fit in a limited edition dry black Japanese selvedge, that comes in a matte black box for its new owner. Japanese indigo’s are a big story in this season’s collection. Besides sturdy selvedge options to die for, there are great new specials like the yarn dyed deep, deep indigo bandana shirt, a kimono, Japanese-styled work wear shirts and indigo granddad shirt, clean Japanese indigo chino and blazer. An all-new fit this season comes by the name of ‘Raze’, which is a slouchy slim fit with chino details, traditional back pockets and constructed seaming. This one’s available in great colour ways like the deep coloured canvas ‘Red Rust’ with heavy abrasion, or the ‘Brushed Dark’; a bright base of pure indigo with lightly brushed details.
The much-loved super slim fit ‘Gitane’ is no longer reserved for the premium Lot. 22 collection, but now also pops up in the main line. Take the crazy black acid washed ‘The Wild One’; this is one of the brand’s new comfort stretch qualities, where technical advance allows more flexibility, without losing its raw denim appeal. As the collection keeps growing, you can now dress in Amsterdams Blauw from head to toe. Besides all the perfect sweats, graphic tees and accessories, this collection also offers an exclusive recycled knit program. The fibers are made from the pulp of old jeans, brought to you in great washed-out wardrobe staples in different shades of blue. Denim, eight days a week!

Barfly Autumn/Winter 2013
After 27 years of building and expanding their brand, the creative team at Scotch & Soda has realized a long lived dream and proudly present their first perfume entitled BARFLY. The essence of Scotch & Soda, its desire of individuality and love of free spirits is now translated into a fragrance. Much like the clothes, the perfume has its own character and is full of details. The creative team had a strong idea about how Barfly should smell and the feeling it had to evoke terms like intense but simple, young and transparent.
As the scent develops from its fresh top notes of citrus-herb to the middle notes of lavender and jasmine, mixed with outspoken components such as Sandal and Cedar wood, it eventually settles down to reveal its warm base notes of musk and Madagaskar Vanilla. Typical of Scotch & Soda’s design aesthetics, this product stands out by its individuality, not only by its extraordinary and surprising scent but also by its name and product design. With its no-nonsense bottle carefully selected through vintage archives and crafted top with the fly logo embossed, Barfly is a truly special addition to the growing brand. Barfly is available in Scotch & Soda stores and selected boutiques worldwide.
